THE GSPCA team’s around the clock assistance and work for both animals and people has been recognised with a nomination for the Rossborough-sponsored Emergency Hero of the Year by Steve Byrne.
‘The amazing team at the GSPCA work 24/7 helping thousands of animals every year and thousands of individuals and families in a huge range of ways,’ Mr Byrne said.
‘From seal pups to illegally transported puppies the GSPCA often has over 500 animals in their care and rescues over 3,000 every year.’
In a year, the team will help around 200 stray dogs and often over 500 stray cats, as well as loose horses, farm animals, reptiles and other pets.
‘Sadly there are 200 to 300 road traffic accidents with cats on Guernsey roads every year and the GSPCA help and support the owners through the very difficult time.’
‘The volunteers and staff at the GSPCA work tirelessly around the clock to do all they can for the animals and community of Guernsey and are each heroes in very special ways.’
