Pride of Guernsey: Joan Norledge

JOAN NORLEDGE is a pillar of support to her family, according to her daughter-in-law.

Ann-Marie Norledge nominated her mother-in-law for the Grandparent/s of the Year award, sponsored by The Channel Islands Co-operative Society, saying Joan regularly looked after her children, which made it possible for her to go out to work.
‘She also regularly helps out at Castel School helping many of the children with their swimming preparation, trips out and any other voluntary support the school needs, in addition to volunteering at her local church and generally being a great supportive friend to many.
‘It is especially important to me as she lost her husband, my father-in-law, three years ago suddenly and has had to adjust to life on her own in a way she didn’t plan for. But her selflessness and devotion to the rest of her family, friends and acquaintances alike has never wavered and we love her for it. I would just like her to know how much she means to us all and she is always a winner in our eyes, and grandparent of the year, every year.’
