Pride of Guernsey: Sister Debbie Duquemin

SISTER Debbie Duquemin has been nominated for the Ravenscroft-sponsored Angel of the Year award for her assistance and kindness to many patients.

Nominator Alan Morton, who has been going to see Debbie for nearly two years due to his diabetes, said she is wonderful and caring.
‘She has helped me get back in line with my weight, she was so helpful and kind with any questions I had.
‘I have managed to get a hold of it [diabetes] now, as I am still type 2, and not on insulin.’
Alan stated that his blood sugar level used to be above 7, which is very dangerous, however with Debbie’s guidance, Mr Morton’s level has since decreased to 6.2.
Sister Duquemin is an experienced midwife alongside her nursing role.
The nominee works out of both L’Aumone and Grandes Maisons Road surgery, with many of Alan’s neighbours visiting her too.
Alan saw Debbie five to six weeks ago and has since then rested to try to see if he can keep his weight down.
‘I tried to nominate Debbie last year,’ Alan said, ‘She has helped me enormously.’
