Pride of Guernsey: Emily Nuttall

A young woman who volunteers with mental health charities and has spoken out about her own experiences has been nominated for the Overcoming Adversity award. Sponsored by Close Finance, the award is designed to recognise those who have overcome the odds and offer hope and inspiration to others in the community.

Emily Nuttall, 24, has been nominated in recognition of what she has done to promote awareness of mental health issues.
‘Emily has been going through some mental issues in her life and she is using her experience to try to help others in the community,’ her nominator said.
‘She volunteers for Safer and Guernsey Mind and is a young ambassador for Action for Children. She has also been chosen to speak at an MOE conference in September about her experience with mental health issues.’
Ms Nuttall has also been involved in organising the Hope Walk, which was aimed at helping to raise awareness of suicide among young people. This is something she has said she would like to continue in the future.
